Overbeck’s Garden

Devon

The Garden

High above the entrance to the Kingsbridge Estuary, nestle the sub-tropical and exotic plants of Overbeck’s Garden –  an area of cliffside that has been curated for 120 years.  Carved into the local rock face, the garden’s terraced paths wind through layers of textured, coloured and scented plants from around the world – all cared for in the Salcombe microclimate by talented National Trust gardeners and a team of volunteers.

The Silent Space

The Banana Garden

In the south eastern corner of Overbeck’s is a walled garden, sheltered from the wind and coastal storms, where tropical banana trees flourish.  Here, sun soaked acacia and magnolia trees stand proud and exotic seasonal flowers transport you to distant heat-soaked lands.
