The Garden
Kiplin Hall sits within 90 acres of gardens and grounds. Visitors enjoy rolling lawns, floral borders, a productive walled garden, lakeside paths and woodland walks. Many are surprised to find peaches and grapes growing in North Yorkshire, enjoying the shelter of the Walled Garden’s warm red brick walls. Kiplin Hall is famed for snowdrops in February, but during summer plant lovers can also seek out our rare Bee Orchids. A recently created Tree Trail encourages visitors to explore the many native and non-native trees spread across the woodland and parkland. Kiplin Hall and Gardens are often described by visitors as ‘a tonic’, offering the perfect escape from the everyday and a peaceful home for native wildlife.
The Silent Space
The Silent Space at Kiplin Hall and Gardens is located near the main entrance to the historic house. Before reaching the Hall, visitors turn left under the laburnum arch which is particularly splendid during the month of May. The path leads towards the woodland, but just before reaching the woodland gate, visitors will find the Silent Space. It is in an historic conservatory frame entwined with vines – a sheltered spot, backed by the warm, red brick wall. Seating is positioned with views inwards towards a reflective pool and delicate alpine planting between the paving, or outwards towards the parkland and lime tree avenue. It offers a chance for quiet and calm in an historic setting.
