The Garden
Marie Curie provides free palliative and end of life care, information and support for people living with a terminal illness, and those close to them, at the hospice in Bradford and in people’s homes across Yorkshire. The team provide individual holistic care for people living with any illness they’re likely to die from, including Alzheimer’s (and other forms of dementia), heart, liver or kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s and advanced cancer.
The Silent Space
The Marie Curie Hospice, Bradford is lucky to boast a range of fantastic gardens for patients, their families and friends, staff, volunteers, and visitors to enjoy. The gardens are maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers who keep the outdoor space looking glorious for visitors all year round.
The silent space can be found in a quieter, more secluded area of the hospice gardens – The Fishpond Garden – which can be accessed from the back of the main building via a set of patio doors. The sound of the birds, the wind, and the relaxing sound of running water from the pond all add to the peaceful and calming ambience of the garden.
As part of the Hospice’s commitment to wellbeing initiatives, the silent space encourages mindfulness, self-directed meditation, and grounding techniques. It also enables people to access space and support doing emotionally challenging times, by connecting with the natural world around them.
The Silent Space at The Marie Curie Hospice Bradford is not open to the public.
